Fort Mason Center is a nonprofit operating within a historic army post along the northern waterfront of the San Francisco Bay. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, it hosts a rotation of artistic programming for visitors that includes theater and dance performances, art installations, as well as educational classes and a variety of restaurants and specialty shops. They wanted to rebrand themselves as a “Center for Arts & Culture” so they hired us to design a comprehensive branding campaign that included signage, a website and promotional material.

The previous logo for the Fort Mason Center was quite literal and too visually complex. Our solution was to create a logo that was more symbolic than illustrative.
The new Fort Mason Center symbol is made up of interlocking chevrons that form both an abstract quartermaster symbol and a dimensional cube.
The new banners and signage at Fort Mason Center seamlessly integrate with the historic architecture.
We revamped the existing entrance signage with the new branding and incorporated a uniform look for the individual tenant signs.
Canvas tote bags were branded with the new identity.
